W artykule przypomniano krótko historię zmian organizacyjnych jednostek GIG-PIB związanych z tematyką geomechaniki i tąpań. Zawarto wspomnienie o prof. Władysławie Konopce. Omówiono najważniejsze osiągnięcia GIG-PIB na polu geomechaniki: metodykę diagnozowania i prognozowania stanu zagrożenia tąpaniami w kopalniach węgla kamiennego, metodę ukierunkowanego szczelinowania skał (hydraulicznego i strzelniczego) oraz opracowaną metodę określania naprężeń w górotworze.
Rock bursts and rock mechanics in Central Mininig Istitute - National Research Institute - past and presence
The article briefly recalls the history of organisational changes of the units of GIG-PIB involved in geomechanics and rock bursts. It includes a tribute to Professor Władysław Konopko. The most important achievements of GIG-PIB in the field of geomechanics were discussed: the methodology of diagnosing and forecasting the state of rock burst hazard in hard coal mines, the method of directed rock fracturing (hydraulic and blasting) and the developed method of determining stresses in the rock mass.
