W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań, obejmujące pomiary niwelacyjne, na terenie pogórniczym w Wałbrzychu i okolicy na Dolnym Śląsku w Polsce, gdzie 25 lat temu zlikwidowano kopalnie węgla kamiennego, a górotwór zatopiono. Górnictwo węgla kamiennego w Wałbrzychu ma początki w XVI wieku, przy czym intensywna eksploatacja górnicza była od drugiej połowy XIX wieku do czasu jej zakończenia w 1998 r. Przedstawiono wyniki pomierzonych obniżeń powierzchni terenu za okres eksploatacji górniczej, a przede wszystkim wypiętrzenia, które wystąpiły po zatopieniu zrobów i wyłączeniu systemu odwadniania. Jest to pierwszy kompleksowy pomiar na obszarze dawnych trzech dużych kopalń węgla kamiennego w Wałbrzychu i jego sąsiedztwie. W artykule odniesiono się także do wcześniejszych badań dotyczących obniżeń rezydualnych i wypiętrzenia powierzchni terenu.

The article presents the results of research, including geodetic levelling measurements, in the post – mining area in Wałbrzych and the surrounding area in Lower Silesia in Poland, where 25 years ago hard coal mines were liquidated and the rock mass was sunk. Hard coal mining in Wałbrzych has its beginnings in the 16th century, with intensive mining exploitation from the second half of the 19th century until its end in 1998. The results of measured land surface subsidence for the period of mining exploitation, and above all the uplifts that occurred after the spontaneous sinking of goafs, are presented. This is the first comprehensive measurement in the area of the former three large hard coal mines in Wałbrzych and its vicinity. The article also refers to previous research on residual reductions and uplift of the land surface.
