Rok 2025 jest dla górnictwa Lubelszczyzny momentem szczególnym – obchodzimy bowiem 50-lecie powstania górnictwa węgla kamiennego w regionie, którego symbolem i jedynym do dziś funkcjonującym zakładem jest Lubelski Węgiel „Bogdanka” S.A. Od dekad spółka ta uchodzi za jedną z najefektywniejszych i najnowocześniejszych w polskim górnictwie – kopalnię o wysokiej wydajności, dobrze zorganizowanej strukturze technicznej oraz stabilnej pozycji rynkowej. Jej rola ma wymiar nie tylko gospodarczy, ale i społeczny: Bogdanka jest i pozostaje głównym pracodawcą w regionie, a także filarem lokalnej infrastruktury i stabilizatorem społeczności Lubelszczyzny. Dziś jednak, w realiach transformacji energetycznej zachodzącej w Europie i na świecie, spółka musi sprostać nowym wyzwaniom. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono główne założenia strategii Bogdanki w kontekście wyzwań transformacji energetycznej. Omówiono zarówno inicjatywy techniczne i inwestycyjne, jak i kwestie bezpieczeństwa nowych technologii – w szczególności instalacji fotowoltaicznych – które stają się jednym z kluczowych kierunków rozwoju spółki.

The year 2025 is a special moment for the Lublin region’s mining industry – we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of hard coal mining in the region, symbolized by Lubelski Węgiel “Bogdanka” S.A., the only plant still in operation. For decades, this company has been considered one of the most efficient and modern in the Polish mining industry – a mine with high productivity, a well-organized technical structure, and a stable market position. Its role is not only economic but also social: Bogdanka is and remains a major employer in the region, a pillar of local infrastructure, and a stabilizing force for the
Lublin region’s community. Today, however, in the face of the energy transformation taking place in Europe and globally, the company must meet new challenges.
This article presents the main assumptions of Bogdanka’s strategy in the context of the challenges of the energy transition. It discusses both technical and investment initiatives, as well as the safety of new technologies – particularly photovoltaic installations – which are becoming one of the key directions of the company’s development.
